BIOS Novice Needs Help
I have a Abit BH6 Motherboard with a Celeron 300a running with a user defined setting of (66*4.5) and Award BIOS. I have connected my new cdrom on the secondary IDE as master. Within Master BIOS I'm useing Auto detect secondary IDE. Furthermore I can see that BIOS did detect my CDrom during POST. The problem is this. When building the DOS diver from cdmke44.sys I receive the message: CD player not found, Check power and cables. I have checked and rechecked conections. How can this be possible if the drive was detected during POST? Thanks in advance Bob the Novice.

I had a US Drive that could not be detected by the driver in the disk that comes with the drive. I had to use another disk driver from a different manufacturer. (Can't remember exactly which one) But it it loaded the driver and recognize the drive in DOS.
Also, double check that the jumper on the CD-ROM is set on Master.
Another shot is to set the jumper as slave, connect it as primary slave and see if the driver will recognize the drive.
