Flash AMI BIOS on a AWARD BIOS? Possible?

Is it possible to flash an AMI BIOS, on a FIC VB-601 Motherboard with a AWARD BIOS?

    Thanks in advance!

No thats impossible. If you want another kind of bios you have to buy a new MB.

Even if FIC is selling the same motherboard with both bios? Or do they change something besides the BIOS chip?

    Yes it is possible

Yes it is possible at least on AMI Bios. I went through esupport and bought my bios update, at least I thought it was. I should have know somthing was wrong when the dos flash program wouldn't auto run. Well the update never gave me any clue that the bios were wrong. It flashed them and rebooted. And lord and behold I nolonger had AMI bios I had Award and guess what my system worse off than when I started. Oh sure It still runs but I can't upgrade my cpu, I'm stuck with an 800 mhz processor. I had both pc133 and ddr memory slots but now it thinks I have only pc100 memory maxed at 386. Needless to say it is a piece of sh** now. So take it from me it can be done but why risk it!

I have never, ever heard of being able to flash the same mobo with two completely different BIOS codes from two different manufacturers. This seems to be completely impossible since the BIOS chips are different designs and use different commands and features.

I would need to see a website that shows it is possible before I believe this.

The FIC website shows that the latest BIOS is for AMI only:
