Flickering Display
(beginner) so bare with me....my monitor had been flickering off and on for weeks...screen would suddenly turn everything pink....checked with edison, checked with my computer company...finally took i in - they said it had a bad connector cable....brought it home...fine for a couple of weeks...now it's back...I have an old Viper 50 video card running on a Micron Millenia about two years old with 256k....thought about buying a new card but wonder could something else be at work here....can any installed software contribute, could the power supply need to be changed...I would take it in again but who do I take it to...this repair group was highly recommended and it did work for about a month...any info would be great - at this point I'll even take a magic spell....thanks....Michelle

any chance you can try that monitor on someone elses desktop??? at least then you know for sure its the monitor if the same thing happens on another machine. really sounds like a monitor problem though IMHO.
good luck

A neighbor's Gateway did the same thing last year. The monitor would be fine for a while and then it would suddenly get a pink tint to it. Nothing extreme but very noticeable. After swapping two video cards (warranty) we finally hooked the monitor to my laptop and let it run for awhile. Every time we swapped out a card it would work fine for a week or two and then start up again. We had tested the monitor at my house but didn't leave it hooked up long enough for it to start occuring. It finally did the same thing on the laptop so he talked Gateway into a new monitor. Hasn't happened again (about 8 mos. or so).
