Umm Ok I'm a TAD bit confused on this....

Ok, I'm a little confused here, what is up?

Dunno how to post a url, so if this don't work, just cut and past.
    http://www.viewsonic.com/products/pr...EE50&tabmode=2

    1,280 X 1,024 maximum resolution
    Displays a maximum resolution of 1,280 x 1,024; 1,024 x 768 at 87Hz flicker-free refresh rate for easy viewing. 1,280 x 1,024 @ 66Hz 1,024 x 768 @ 87Hz 800 x 600 @ 110Hz

Ok it says 1.,280 x 1,024; 1,024 x 768 at 87Hz flicker free, so doesn't that mean at 1280x1024x32 i should be able to run 87Hz?, or in my case 85Hz.

If so, then are they like confused or lying or what, cause below it it says 1,280 x 1,024 @ 66Hz. So wich is it, 87/85Hz, or 66Hz?

Monitor BTW is an Optiquest Q71 17",
    (16" veiwable).
Vid card is Hercules 3d Prophet II 64 meg gf2 gts DDR
    useing the 6.34 drivers
Also useing DX8, but this is the same even with Dx7x as well.

My max res at 85Hz, is 1024x768.

Please clarify this if you can for me, and thnx in advance

I don't quite understand what you are trying to say. To me, it looks like this:

The monitor has a max resolution of 1280x1024, and it can do that resolution at an eye-straining 66hz. Ouch.

It seems most certainly that the monitor's optimal resolution is 1027x768, which it can do at a much nicer 87hz (your eyes will thank you).

How are they lying? I don't get it. Maybe slightly misleading...by not not mentioning the refresh rate of the highest resolution until after they tell you the refresh rate of the middle resolution. Yeah, kinda sneaky...but that's marketing, get used to it, every product in the world pulls the same type of ****.

I never "said" they were lying, just wondered what the deal was is all
Come to find out though that yes at 1280x1024 it's 60Hz, or as they say 66Hz BELCH!!!!
Guess I gotta upgrade my monitor then, sigh

To bad I need to move so bad or I'de have enough rite now.

Saw a NICE 21" from gateway, that had an unGAWDLY max res of something like 2300x1600, or 2300x2100 or something, but it was UP there, and my jaw about dropped when I tried it and it worked!!!
Price tag on it? $999.00 US
Tad bit pricey, but man the res was unbelieveable.
I also ran this at a lower NORMALLY eye hurting Hz rate of 60Hz, and to my surprise, it wasn't even hurting my eyes, this was nice!!!
Still keeping my eye on it, but I'm sure thier are cheaper that are just as good

My 19" KDS can do 2048x1536, also at 60hz. But that's a LOT of desktop space.
    See this screenshot: http://members.home.net/autpatient/s...llybigdesk.jpg

When you check that out, keep in mind that the little Quake 2 window you see in the lower right corner is 1024x768 !

A buddy of mine just bought the same monitor I have, but he found it on sale for $199.

You spent all that money on a Prophet2 GTS without buying a GOOD 19" monitor first?? Sheesh...
