Downloaded Latest 3dfx driver for V32000 and screen went screwy
When I rebooted my monitor was a scrambled mess. It was like it had set my monitor to a resolution it cannot handle. Had to start in safe mode to regain control. Any suggestions why this happened and how to make a proper install of drivers. BTW, I am aware of the removing every trace of the old drivers routine, so you do not have to waste your time typing all those instructions out. And no I did not do the routine. I've never had to do that with previous video driver updates.
thanks

i also have the voodoo3 2000 pci and have downloaded the latest drivers ,,,but not installed them yet.Is your monitor and older model?A lot of times the newer cards default to optimal settings which older monitors dont support.i used to use powerstrip untill i got my new monitor.if you dont have an older monitor....then i'm not installing those drivers!

Yes it is an older monitor(1994). What is this powerstrip you mentioned? I think I've read about it somewhere.

Powerstrip is a v-card/monitor configuration utility. Rather good one. Perhaps your problem was only with the refresh rate, for that hztool(freeware) is a good tool. Powerstrip is shareware. hztool can be downloaded from www.3dfiles.com. Can't remember powerstrip homesite but I'd assume that it can be found from www.winfiles.com.

Thanks muno. I downloaded hztool. I think I've set it up right. Now I just need to find the courage to do the 3dfx driver install again.
