    Is my monitor dead?

I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 70 that recently appeared to die on me. When I switch my PC and monitor on, the monitor led stays yellow, and nothing happens. No other signs ofpower or life. Meanwhile the PC happily boots up.

I've tried a different monitor with the same PC, and that worked. I've tried the Mitsubishi with 2 different graphic cards and neither worked. I've also tried a new VGA cable, but that didn't work either.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I had that problem once, did everything you did. One question: do you have kids? Mine set the brightness and contrast to minimum. :O

No I dont have kids. That doesnt come into it, as the LED on the front of the monitor should go green when it is powered on by the VGA card, but it doesn't; it always stays yellow.

Check the pins on the VGA cable, it is possible that some of them have been warped or bent out of place. It that is the case you can try to straighten them with needlenose pliers. If that is not the problem, It may be the VGA cable itself.

Assuming that the monitor has a detachable VGA cable, you could try to swap VGA cables and see if that works.

If your monitor has a built in VGA cable that can not be removed, then you should start to panic.

Also try to dust the connector, although I doubt that will be the problem.

The VGA cable is detachable, and I've tried a brand new cable, but it still didn't work.
