Angry Stutter, jitter (I don`t know what to name it) with Visiontek Geforce!!!!

    Hey,
I have a Visiontek geforce sdr with a soyo 7vca motherboard.I`ve tested every combination of 4in1 drivers with detonator or non detonator drivers, and in some games like ground control, midtown madness, and half life, I`ve noticed a stuttering of the texture when I`m moving my mouse around fast.Is it a problem with the via drivers, or the nvidia ones?My computer is fast and rock stable.I have a celeron 800 with 128 ram ( 3700 3dmarks 2000).I`m not complaining.only with that stupid stuttering. Its really annoying! The games are fast, but when I move the mouse left and right, I have stuttering.Any ideas why?

Do you have agp 4x enabled? If you do
disable it in the bios.Solved some stability problems for me, and I got a performance boost.
Forgot to mention, I have the same card
and have had no problems with it.

    Thumbs up

But did you notice anything strange in games like half life or ground control when you turn your mouse right or left really fast?
What`s your configuration? What motherboard , sound card (what pci slot) and mouse are you using?I need to compair and see what`s the problem with mine.Thanks.

I have played halflife with no problems.
    I have a tyan trinity 400 m/b
    sb live xgamer
    logitech wheel mouse
as far as the pci slot goes I guess you mean
the sound card, but I dont think it really
matters.Just make sure your geforce isn't sharing an IRQ.Use powerstrip to find out if
your sharing an IRQ, and if you are just jockey your other cards around so the geforce is on its own.

I did.I`ve tried all the pci slot combinations of the sound blaster and the modem (I have just these two on the board).
My video card doesn`t share any irq with them. What driver version are you using?4in1, and detonator?

    Yes i'm using via's latest 4:1 driver
I've tried all nvidia driver versions and found that the one that came with the card was the best det 353. I just added the display properties extension from 530 for fsaa. And am using a ref bios tweaked by Robrich for sidebanding. It might be the nvidia drivers your using, I did have a problem runing the q3 demo with any of the ref drivers except the 353 version and I think one other but cant remember which.Any other driver version and the game would just lock up or I would get artifacts.

how much ram do you have in the system itself. That can be the problem. Although in half life you shouldn't need a meg more than 64 to run absolutely smooth, it could be a problem. If you have anything less than 64, then undoubtedly that is your problem. If you are at 64, move up to 128. 64 isn't quite enough to fully satisfy the Geforce...

I have 128 meg. pc 100.That`s not the problem.Actually, i`ve install soldier of fortune yesterday.Prety fast on my computer, BUT,once again, when I`m moving the mouse left and right really fast, it gives some kind of stutter. It is not the kind that it`s because you have a slow computer. It is like you are seeing double texture, sort of.The game is fast.Only when I move my mouse gives the kind of double-texture stutter.Do you have any idea of what is causing that.I`m getting really furstrated. Is it the mouse,or is it a driver problem? Thanks.

I`m using a soyo 7vca motherboard.Prety good one!Really stable and reliable.I had a soyo 6vba before that, and it was giving me the same stutter-like problem. Is it a soyo thing, or is it via or the drivers of my video card??Who knows.I give up!!!!!Are you?

    Dissable pedestrians in Midtown Madness.
    Also, dissable sidebanning in AGP.
By the way I never heard of a celeron 800mhz.

How can I disable sidebanning, and what is it excactly?I`ve already disable pedestrians, and still the stuttering-like occurs. So is it a sidebanning problem? How do I turn it off?

    p.s:Celeron 533 o/c to 800 )))

if your having problems with the mouse try useing another mouse if thers no change format and do a clean install.

but its a horrible chore to do

    C:\WINDOWS>FORMAT C:

WARNING, ALL DATA ON NON-REMOVABLE DISK
    DRIVE C: WILL BE LOST!!!
    Proceed with Format <Y/N/>? Y

I know how to format.I`m into computers for a long time, especially if i`m overclocking
I`ve disable sidebanning and changed to another mouse...still the same stutter-like problem.
The problem is probably the soyo motherboards.I read somewhere that they are not so good about handling memory and bus.Is that right? That`s probably the problem.

ps:I`ve also tried fifa 2000.Same stutter problem.I`m sure now that the problem is layed somewhere inside the motherboard.

Once again, it is not the same stutter that you have when you have a slow computer. You can see that the game is really fast, but it is like you are seeing double texture, especially is the texture line is vertical, and you try to move left and right really fast....hope I can fix it

I had a similar problem with my system (including geforce 2).

Once I did the following, everything cleared up:

Disable in BIOS - Video Palette snoop, Video BIOS Cachable, the option for C800-CBFFF (or similar).

Enable in BIOS - Assign IRQ to VGA

Make sure the AGP Aperture is at least half of your system memory.

Aftere these changes, my frame rate in Q3 went up 20 fps...

    Hope this helps.
