This card (the Viper II) is based on the savage 2000 chipset and the V770 is based on the TNT2. I dont know how it performs or anything like that...thats about all I can tell you. Sorry

The Viper 2 uses s3's new Savage 2000 chipset. It is intended to be a direct competitor to the nVidia GeForce256. Like the GF256, the s2k chip support hardware accelerated T&L, but only in OpenGL at this time (leaked beta drivers). The new T&L directx drivers for it are still alpha, and have not been publicly released. The fill rate is quite good, and the hardware T&L is only slightly slower than nVidia's.
Real world benchmarks show this card to be a good performer, rating somewhere between a TNT-2 Ultra and a GF256 SDR. The biggest option is that this card has support for s3tc texture compression, which means if your game has suport for it, you'll get highly detailed graphics at almost no performance loss. I personaly wouldn't purchase one until the driver mature (esp. d3d). Also, s3 should have an overclocked version of this card out soon, which may be a good competitor for the GF256, is priced right.
