Quake II Question

How do you pull up the FPS option for Quake II demo?

Well, I got the Timedemo1<enter> on Quake II to work.
It played a demo about 5 times before I stopped it and I averaged 74 FPS.
As for the command Demomap Demo1.dm2
it failed to recognize the command.

Where do you get the demo1.dm2 and demo2.dm2 tests??? I have Quake 2 3.20 and I don't have them. Did id software mess up a cd or something??? I don't have any of the addon cds, but I have upgraded to the latest version.

You don't have those two? Funny, they come with it and I have yet to hear of them not being there... Well, go to this site and get the benchmark demos, crusher and massive1, they are the true test for the system. Lots of other stuff there, including a .cfg to allow continuous demo looping, etc.

Maybe u hafta do a full install or sumthin?
And the command i put up are the EXACT commands i use. I leave a space after timedemo. Dont know if that matters, but mine doesnt loop, just plays once.

running version 3.14 quake II demo
If I type Timedemo 1 it will run a demo extremely fast in a continuous loop untill I stop it. I average 74 FPS. I downloaded Crusher and Massive demos , etc. But i still cannot get anything but timedemo 1 to work.

failed to recognize
map demo1.dm2
failed to recognize
same for map crusher.dm2 and massive.dm2
etc. etc. etc.
is there somewhere that I can update this game or do I have to go out and by the full version just to see what MY FPS are. ?????

I went through all of the directories and it just isn't there. I'd really like to test my system using the same tests everyone else uses.

To run crusher you type
Timedemo 1 <enter>
Demomap Crusher.dm2 <enter>
As for Ice, I dont see it in any of my directories either, I believe its inside the Pak0 file or somthing. When u start the game and dont do anyuthing, does a demo play in the background? if so, this is demo1.dm2.

Make sure you do the full installation of quake2, and make sure you get the full 3.20 patch that has all the deathmatch levels and such. Pick up the extremities pack, for like 10 bucks and get the full 3.20 patch and some really good mods, and the eraser bot to play against.

All you should have to do, is when you start the game, hit the tilde key (~) type:

timedemo 1 (hit enter)
map demo1.dm2 (hit enter)


this should run the demo really fast and tell you your frame per second, do the same thing for demo2

timedemo 1 (hit enter)
map demo2.dm2 (hit enter)


For crusher its a little different crusher has to be in a maps directory in your base2q directory, if you dont have a maps directory make one and put it in there. then do the same as above.

timedemo 1 (hit enter)
map crusher.dm2 (hit enter)

And yea the regular demos demo1 and demo2 are not in a directory they are part of the game, and in one of the pak files.
