Are 16 meg TNT2's any good?
Over here in Canada, they cost about $70-80 bucks less. Would that extra 16 megs of video memory actually come into play a lot? I mean, I'm limited to 1024x724 anyway, and I don't think those super high texture games will be out for a while...
Thoughts/suggestions?

2d cards at presant only use a maximun of 8meg any more than that is for a z-buffer for 3d.
It depends what you're doing with it.

Actually I'm going to be using it for 3d games a lot really.

I have a 16 meg TNT2, the Guillemot one which was $129 after rebate. Everything runs extremely well, usually I run everything at 1024x768 since I am still stuck with a 15" monitor. Unreal, QuakeII, Half-Life, Sin, Requiem, you name it... they all run great. As the newer games come out (Messiah maybe) then more memory will be needed, but by then, another card will probably be out anyways. For that amount of money you can save, you can probably do better by buying extra system ram instead of the 16 for the board!

Yeah, memory shouldn't be a problem, since AGP allows the video card to use system memory.... so I'd be better to buy another 128 megs of ram or something later, right?

Yeah.. those Guillemont Xentor 16's look good... Only place I can find em over here though is Future Shop... 189 Cnd. I suppose that's about the same 129 US
The 32 meg versions are 275 (Viper 770) and about 300 or so for the various Ultras.
