America Online is a bully. Microsoft showed us bullies don't reform unless they're forced to. I don't want to wait 20 years for the government to figure out what we already know: That AOL is bad for Internet consumers. Come to the site for three good reasons why AOL belongs in court now.

While he does bring up some good points, I don't believe his ideas of AOL put them in the same league as M$. W/ M$ there was little choice in competition. You could go with the lowly MAC (sorry guys) or Linux (great OS but not for the technically impaired...yet). They used their might to impress their products on people. AOL has plenty of rivals. I have done very well with my web browsing w/o ever using AOL. As for impressing their software on people, they are only doing this to people who are subscribers. And they are just that...subscribers...that can cancel at any time. While AOL is not my favorite ISP (I would never think about using them), they have yet to hurt me in any way. I think his article is a bit short-sighted. AOL is a power hungry company, but equalling M$...I think not!

In that pole, when I voted there were
    10528 votes for AOL
    4734 votes for M$

I think there are about 10000 misguided people (barring the idea that I am REALLY missing the point here )

That is exactly how I felt...
but for a large technological mediator (at least as I saw it) like zd I would figure they would be less bias!

Also keep in mind that there are many, maybe even a majority of, AOL users who swear by it. Wether or not they know of any other, some people think it's the greatest thing on the Web...

I thought the survey was interesting about who's the worst Bad Boy MS or AOL with the vote when I checked it out as AOL getting 70% of the votes.
and even if a class action occurs, so what, MS is still there, and probably will be there in 10 years,( bigger and stronger than ever)

The way the worlds going it will be a few big corps that run the world and governments will go cap in hand to them, just to find out what they are or arnt allowed to do,

(in history it was the Kings who had power, then the Lords took over, and gradually it worked down to the ordinary people, now we are on the verge of the next power strugle for who is in charge unless the people make a stand now) enough of the Che talk, I won't be around for that event, but my kids will, so we should all stand up for the rights of the people not be be controlled, abused, and taken advantage of.
my 2c worth, control freaks always get me mad, always have always will.

    Unhappy

    A few choice observations -

class action suits make lawyers wealthy -

We are a capitalistic nation - if you object to something - don't buy it - that's your only true remaining vote.....

Example - I'll never buy another nissan automobile - their product stinks - their parts and service aren't that great either - so, my vote is cast in never buying one of their products again.....

As far as "evil dominions" go - the U.S. intelligance community & government is far more a threat than MS or AOL will ever be. Take a look at asset forfeiture laws - you can have everything you own except the clothes you currently wear taken away from you without due process if said property is identified as having been a site or vehicle for drug traffic of a certain volume. Note I didn't say you did it - it just happened on your property - perhaps without your knowledge..... AOL and MS are small fry - you actually have an option to still avoid them - but just stop paying your taxes and try to live an open life in this country....
