    MEMORY AND VOODOO2

    I have a V2 with 12MB but when I read
the display prop. the system info it wrotes
that FRAME BUFFER MEMORY=4MB TEXTURE MEM=4MB
    4+4 are 8MB or?
Have I an 8MB V2 or what is problem?
    Thanks!

Don't worry, you have a 12 meg board, they just count the total memory (FBM, and 2 TMU's) on board even though most games (except QuakeII, Unreal, etc) use only one TMU.

V2's memory division is a waste or memory.....having parallel rendering which doesnt shares the same memory.... (

Memory sharing can be problematic since if
one unit is doing a large transfer, the
other unit may have to wait for a long time
before it's given the "bus" (c.f. IDE
    interface and DMA).

Note that you'll have to transfer the
textures to both texel from main memory
so in fact it is the main memory that is
shared by the texels. If the textures are
large, texture swapping will occur and
the fight to get the bus will slow down the
    card.
