RivaTNT Detonator Drivers
I have a Creative Labs RivaTNT and I want to install the latest drivers from nVidia (ie. the detonator ones) but everytime I install them, when my PC starts to load Windows it just resets and reboots again into safe mode. Basically I can't get into Windows without changing back to my old drivers.
Can anyone help me? Is this just my card that will not works with the nVidia drivers or could it be something to do with the fact that my version of Win95 does not have the AGP software on it?
Cheers,

Um, I know this may seem like a dumb question but..... When you installed the detonator drivers did you pick the right drivers? You have a choice of AGP or PCI. Installing the wrong ones cause this problem. Dont laugh, I know people that have done this cause they didnt read all the many prompts during installation, and just kept clicking OK without reading them!

Yeah, I actually tried both after the AGP ones didn't work. But you're right it can be easy to click through the instructions!

I have an STB Velocity 4400 and had simular problems with the original install as well as when I tried the Detonator drivers. Make sure that you change to the Standard VGA driver first. You have to clear out the old TNT driver this way. Then, instead of "restart windows 95" tell windows to shut down-THEN reboot your system. Mine ALWAYS hangs or forces me into safe mode if I tell windows to just restart. It was very frustrating. I also know that the STB Vision software is a royal pain and will cause you numerous problems when changing drivers if you don't remove it well first. I even ended up with both the STB and the nVIDIA tabs on my display properties window at the same time ...go figure. Some kind of weird driver mutation I guess. Good luck.

Cheers,
that seems to have sorted my problem!

Well, I'm using the Creative Riva TNT, and I also can't get mine to work with either drivers from Creative or nVidia... I've called for technical support, and they can't help me with my problem. Can any of you guys help me with this problem?

What exactly happens when you install the drivers? Does your machine reboot whenever you try loading Win 95?
Also, are you installing these drivers on top of an old graphics card's drivers?
Give me a few details about the system you are running (mother board, CPU etc) and I'll have a think about it!

Everything "seems" OK when I install the drivers. However, when I reboot, my system locks-up when it's loading into Windows.
My motherboard is a TX Pro(confirmed by Creative Technical Support that it's not a conflicting motherboard), and my system is a Pentium 200 MHz-MMX. The rest of my hardware is confirmed by Technical Support to be non-conflicting with the TNT... I just don't know what to do, and I hope that I won't waste my $$$ on this card...

The only thing I can think of is that your version of Win 95 doesn't like the drivers.
I just changed from Rev a of 95 to rev B of 95 and the Detonator drivers worked first time where they had caused my machine to reboot to safe mode before. What version of 95 are you running? If it's less than 4.000.111 (I think that number's right!) then you probably need to upgrade your 95.
Also, does you BIOS have any AGP settings? If it doesn't, and it's set the AGP aperture too small then the card wouldn't work then either. If you update the BIOS of the TNT this might be fixed...
I hope some of this helps in some way...
