    G200 problem or Windows problem?

I recently bought a Matrox Millenium G200 AGP for my system (FIC 2013, AMD K6-2 350 oc'd to 400, SCSI guts, 128 MB PC100 RAM). I have followed many suggestions to get the video to display properly with my MVP3 chipset, but I an still having trouble with Windows 95 general protection faults (the "this program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down" message). I can play QuakeII without video error or system crash, but while doing everyday chores (or sometimes just sitting there), other programs will fault and shut down. Is this another symptom of "instability" that can be caused by an AGP card or did I just wedge my Windows installation while installing all the drivers and messing with all of my BIOS settings? Has anyone had similar problems? I'm trying to decide whether to return the thing and just stick to PCI. Thanks.

There was an issue with the VIA chipset and AGP use.But things have been made better but not perfect.Make sure you have the latest Bios update for the 2013 from FIC. Also you may also have to download the latest Vgart driver from FIC for the AGP function. Other items to do are to go to Matrox web site for the latest Driver update and be sure as to weather you have a G-200 with SDRAM or SGRAM as there are some different drivers on the site. Set-up system with the standard multiplier and clock speeds recommended by the Mfg. Do your Bios and Vgart 1st restart the system a few times. The other item to verify is if you have gone to the Microsoft web site for the patch concerning the AMD K6-2 350 and Windows.
Please bear in mind these are only suggestions and if you follow thru you do so at your own risk as it is being done outside my direct control. Best wishes

as an afterthought, can you sync your sdram with the cpu or agp using jumpers (as on the Aopen mobo)
    have you tried this?
