Problems with my 2d-card

I have just upgraded my computer:
2 a Cleron 300a, bh6 and 64 pc100. And Its able 2 OC, but thats not the problem. I've got a Trio 64 2d-card (yeah I know its crappy) and as soon as I start windows 98 (or 95 osr2) with moore than 16 colors my system freezes. And Im not running OCed. I've changed card 2 another s3 card (trio 64) and now it doesnt freeze at once, but after a couple of minutes. Note that with 16 colors it never hangs. Everything else works on the computer...the voodoo2 card, networkcard, and soundcard...I' m gonna change 2 a apg card in a week or so...but I want it 2 work until then....
Can anyone help me? Or heard about a similir problem....

Maybe you videocard drivers are old, try updating them, try installing directx, try in bios enable/disable vga irq or try in bios enable/disable vga palette snoop.
Maybe you videocard had to litle of memory.
Try another vidocard not s3
