Is a K6300 too slow for a Riva TnT card??

I am upgrading my ATI Rage 4mb AGP video card and am leaning towards the a Riva TnT based card over a banshee. I have read that the TnT relies heavily on the systems CPU and to not bother using it on a system less than 400mhz, also it is buggy with the socket-7??.
    Any thoughts..
Also, what manufacturer should I go with if I decide on the Riva TnT chip in the $125 range??

    Thanks

    Chris

how much you want to spend?
Canopus 2500 is the fastest and then the Diamond 550
    Creative TNT
    Elsa Erazer
go for it and you will be alright.
    At the worst case scenario, you will have a card to use with your next chip up{350/400/450}
In the beginning I would have said, yes Banshee but the drivers and most games are balanced out now.
Don't be looking for screeching FPS but nice picture and smooth graphics.
If you want to save a couple pennies, get a Monster 4meg and use it with your agp video.
    Cheap and efficient

The banshee will be SO much faster on your 300 than any TnT.I have a 300 running at 380 with a banshee and everything runs at 1024 or higher except DeltaForce(No hardware support)

Banshees get about twice the 2d fill rate with Super 7 systems AMD's and 1 1/2 times better Direct 3D scores. Now of corse the TnT is faster with a celery.

Yes TnT's are buggy with Super 7's escpecially with ALI chipsets instead of VIA.You can get a banshee at half the price.CompUSA has Diamond Monster Fusion for around $65.00 after rebates....16 meg agp or pci

Don't believe what you've read. TNT's work well with 266MHz processors and higher. It should work fine with your chip. It can be buggy on certain Socket 7 chipsets. I've had good experiences with TNT's on Aladdin V chipsets. I've heard horror stories on most others.

If you don't have the Aladdin V you might want to go with a Banshee card. The Diamond Monster Fusion is the best performing one out there. It has an onboard fan that lets Diamond clock it a bit higher than other Banshee boards.

    Cheers

First revisions of almost all products are buggy.
I have a Elsa Erazer, Diamind 550, Creative TNT, Canopus 2500, Matrox G200 16meg, Quantum's Banshee[Raven} and the Diamond Fusion AGP Banshee.
TNT will be fine and Banshee will be fine.
It was problems in the drivers and chipsets that were{are} the problem in the first VIA and Ali chipsets that came out.
Yes some you will have to run in Open GL and others you will run 3DFX.
    Your choice.
Sites write reviews and don't go back and change the info, look at new reviews.
    have fun
