    Case Ventilation

My case is the Antec SX1240:

    I purchased it from computers4sure for $136.

    See review at:
    http://www.thedukeofurl.org/reviews/cases/antecsx1240/

    My Config:

3 80mm 35 cfm fans at front - blowing in.
Two of these are used to help ventilate the
2 IBM 40GB GXP 7200rpm HDs, as well as the case. One installed in each of the lower drive bays. HDs will be for raid setup.

2 80mm 35 cfm fans at rear - blowing out(not including the 2 psu fans)

1 120 mm 108 cfm fan at top side blowing out… (my mod)

1 120 mm108 cfm fan at bottom side blowing in… (my mod)

1 80mm 30 cfm Bay-Cool III in top drive bays for data back up HDs:

I have also installed an additional 250w PSU at the top of this case in anticipation of the AMD 760mp requirement for 450w PSU. This second PSU would take the load of all the fans, CD, HD etc. and leave the 400w PSU, that came with the case, as a dedicated PSU for the dualie mobo. But now I read that the AMD 760mp will need a special PSU with special connectors, and even registered/ECC memory. So my second PSU idea may not work after all?

    Two questions:

What do you think of closing off the side vent holes so as to try to create two wind-tunnel effects, one across the top, above the case baffel and one across botton below the case baffel.

    and

Is it better, sound wise, to have more fans at lower cfm than fewer fans at higher cfm... total air flow being equal?

Hi Fish,to answer your first question I think
you should try it both ways and see what works best.As for your second question I try
to use a larger lower rpm fan instead of a
small high rpm fan this gives good air flow
    at lower noise.

    Thanks Bsdboy

    Will test it both ways.
