OC'ing my P3 550mhz Emachines
hello world, i have a p3 550 mhz emachines with 192mb ram 15gb hard drive and i am looking to squeeze a little more life out of it before i buy a new one. so my destination would be around 700 and i would like to know if anyone has ever overclocked an emachines before and what they recomend and what type of fan i could use that would would fit in this small tower.
also! if anyone ever decides to reply! what fan do you recommend for overclocking this far?
You'll have to determine what kind of motherboard you have in that thing. Is there a mobo manual? It may have jumper settings.
it doesnt have a manual i was so pissed when i looked and didnt find one witht the other info on it. but im pretty sure the fsb is 100 and i havent checked if there are jumpers on it. is there any free programs that would change the multiplier or the fsb for me? and i looked up the company's website on the internet once to try to fin dupdates for my bios and i couldnt even find a website!!!!!! its some no name company i doubt anyone knows and to tell you the truth i dont even remember the name. but if anyone has ever over1clocked an emachine please let me know prefferably the emonster series
Intel's have to be oc'd by the fsb. They are multiplier locked.
Sometimes jumper settings are printed right on the mobo. Take a look & find out.
Overclock an Emachines... hahahahahahahahaha
Sorry, caught me there. Those things are even worse than compaqs on hardware. You'll be lucky if you even have two ide plugs on the mobo.
