    Socket A or Slot A?

    what is the difference?
I am building a 1Gig system for DV NLE.
need a recommendation for mobo and processor.
    DDR RAM?

    How about the Abit KT7A?

first of all, us a socket. No new motherboard will even take a slotted cpu.

second, if you go wit the abit kt7a you have no choice and socketed is the way you go.

for the moment use SDR ram, DDR doesn't justify the added price. (besides with the KT7a you have no choice you would use sdr because thats what it supports)

you will need a socket A processor like obsolete said above due to the fact the slot A is an older technology and the new boards are built towards the socket A format.

For your system I would recommend that you go with a 1.2 ghz t-bird in the 266 bus variety and an abit kT7a.

I would also recommend you go with pc 133 sdram like obsolete said above because right now I feel DDR's performance doesn't justify its cost.
