Um, actually the raves are for the "Abit BH6", not an "AH6".

They are good because it gives you the ability to manually change the FSB frequency and CPU core voltage, FROM THE BIOS SETUP even. Most MB's set the FSB speed and core voltage automagically (via the BX chipset) by sensing what chip is in it, and then runs it at Intel's specs. You'd have to fool that type of MB into thinking it had a PII450 in it somehow to get the 100mhz FSB, and you'd have to be lucky enough to get a celery that would O/C stable at the standard 2.0 core voltage.

BH6, Hail to the KING baby!

What about any 440LX motherboard. Is the settable FSB and core voltage true of the entire 440LX chipset or just the ABIT board?

Why ABIT AH6 for overclocking Celerons??

Everybody in this forum keeps raving about how great the ABIT AH6 is for overclocking Celerons. Can't you overclock the Celeron with any motherboard or is there something special about the ABIT AH6 that makes it unique?

Its not so much stability in the LX chipset, its the fact that they don't usually support the 100mHz bus speed (At least none that I can think of off the top of my head).

The LX chipset does not support 100MHz bus speeds. Only the BX and GX intel chipsets support 100MHz front side bus. So far only the Abit boards have the selectable voltage. The other manufacturers run at the default voltage only. This only includes Slot 1 boards. Obviously all Super 7 boards have selectable voltage.

Actually, both the Abit BH6 and BX6 have SoftMenu II with voltage and FSB options to 133(I prefered the BX6 myself - less probs).
However, the board to buy NOW is the BX6 rev2.0. It has the best features of both earlier boards.
If you DON'T have a SL32A Celeron 300A yet, you won't be getting one EVER ... they are GONE! And the 366 - 400 don't run at 100 Mhz (makes for poor AGP).
But don't give up hope yet! There IS a way!
    Get a SL35Q retail box (a 300A for socket 370, and step 5 instead of step 0 - should be even better than SL32A) Then get a BM6 mobo (Abit's BH6 for the socket 370) or a sloKET adapter with the BX6 2.0 _)
Want proof before you buy? (Who can blame you)
Haunt Kyle's site this weekend - he's doing a review of this stuff now, and should be up anytime now.

PS - If you DO like what you read, RUN (don't walk) to grab the CPU! Intel only seems to have made a few, and they'll also be gone quick!
    Good Luck

Here are a few reasons for using ABIT BH6.

    1. BX chipset, you can use same board later when the 400 & 450 goes below $200.

    2. SoftMenu provides an easier way to change settings. It a lot easier to experiment/look for the best settings.

    3. Cheaper than ABIT BX6 Revision 2 or other BX motherboard from ASUS or SuperMicro.

    4. Lots of expert help available from the net.

440lx is a good board as long as you know how to make pull-up wires.
techy secret to overclocking celerons with boards that dont see higher than 75mhz fsb.
    i have a celeron 333A pumpin' out 600mhz.
with a few program errors here and there.
no big deal,a couple of fans keep her quite speedy without a crash-down yet!
i've never played with a bx board.
    that could get interesting.

I'm real happy with my Celery/BH6 combo. Just wish it was of the rev1.1 flavor

    Celeron 300a@504.71
