what is mime?
Someone at school was asking me about mime the other day. They said that they got an email and an error message popped up about this type of mime not supported or something like that. They said the open with box popped up on the screen. Any idea on how to open a mime file?

You have to have a mail client that supports mime content. MS Outlook and Netscape Messanger both have support (as well as many others) for the standard. It is a formatting standard for creating messages. It allows for a variety of content, including pictures and other such attachments.
It sounds to me as if the person tried to open a mime attachment, but the mail client was setup to hanlde that file type. An example would be trying to open a real audio file with out have real player installed on the system. Since the mail client does know what to use, it prompts the user with an "open with" box and expects the user to provide the missing data.
