Jetway socket7 with K6-2 or K6-3?
Hi folks,
Was reading through the pages and saw some of the threads discussing about the plugging in of the K6-2 or K6-3 on older socket7 or SS7 boards.
I'm currently using a Jetway 5TXC S7 board with K6-2 266 o/c to 300 using 66 x 4.5. The board would run at 75 x 4 but not 75 x 4.5 or the 83 Mhz bus.
I have a link to the manual here. I only save the more important pages so it loads faster. The file is 300+ Kb.
http://homestead.deja.com/user.tinde...iles/J5TXC.htm
The board provides core vol of 2.1v and 2.2v.
1) Would it be possible to run any of the latest chips? If so, which version? I've flashed my bios (TXC02_01) and Jetway only did 1 revision for my particular motherboard.
2) The board did boot up and post at 333 or 337 (75 x 4.5) but did not get into windows successfully. I'm afraid it cant do anything above the 300 Mhz spec stated in the manual?
I'll be getting a V3 2k PCI on Sunday to help with the FPS in Counter-Strike. I'm currently using a V1.
The Rams are set to 60ns and the rest are pretty much default.
Cheers,

Is this an oem system? Or did u build it urself. If i were u I would upgrade the Mb and processor, they are pretty cheap now, If ur voltages support 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, and u have
at least a 75mhz bus u could probably get a k63 400 to run in it, but it wouldn't be worth it, best bet is to get a new mb and processor, Someone else here my be able to recommend a different alternative, but i believe an complete upgrade would be ur best bet.

freddy, yeah, I was thinking of going for the Duron and A7V combo but money wouldnt be coming in til 3 mths later. All poor students use back-dated equipment. ;P
scotter, thanks for the feedback. Will try to source for a K6-2 450 from Singapore, but I've heard they are out of stock and only the 500s are available for around US$62. If not, I guess I'll guess have to wait til I sell off the current system and earn some cash from part-time job to get my Duron.
Cheers,
