Celeron 533 came out at the start of this year. The technology is 98 technology, but it's all based on 94/95 technology (P6 core).

Whats the pin taping for? I've o/ced celerys with no need for any mods...

The only taping I remember was B21 on a P2 300 in order to force 450MHz in a gateway BX board.

Lightbulb I bought a brand new two year old processor :-/

Despite no CD drive, my new system is now in frequent use for the games I had installed on the HDD before upgrading. I looked at the bottom of my *new* Celeron533 - intel corp. '98!! Damnit!! It clocks badly too - 600mhz needs 2.2v - 2 isn't stable and I'm pin taping. 667mhz craps out before loading windows - want better cooling before going to 2.4v. I was also stupid enough to pin tape with ultra-clear selotape...

    I still got one from a lousey yield - yep, it's a .25micron chip - I hit 50C today at 2.2v and 600mhz. I've got the Voodoo2's up to 102mhz though...

It craps out on loading win at 667mhz

The pin taping is to bring the voltage up Yep, I do things the old fasioned way.
