ASUS P5A + K6III-450 overclocking?

Does anyone have some useful information? Overclocking system: ASUS P5A, K6III-450, Diamond Viper V550 (TNT 16MB), 128MB PC-100

Well,

1st of all, the k6-3 ain't that good of an overclockable chip, due to it's full speed cache.
You will be lucky to get 550 out of it, very lucky.

The best way to save yer pheriphials, is to just set the jumpers to 5x100 and see what happens.
You might have to up the voltage a little to get it running stable, but do this with caution.

If ya don't have extensive cooling, don't go above 2.5V.

The p5a is a very stable board, but if you'd really want a chip with which ya can play around with, I suggest you get the k6-2, with which you can clock easier, for the cache speed is dependent of the fsb.

if your chip is a AHX one (2.4v) :
- you'll have to increase (step by step) voltage to 2.6/2.7v to get it stable at 500 (only with GOOD cooling : case fans and thermal paste and maybe CPU & heatsink lapping).
if your chip is a AFX/AFR one (2.2v) :
- you are lucky and probably can do 500+ with 2.3v.
