Slot-1 Adapter voltage setting?
Hi, I just received celeron 566 and MSI motherboard 810 chipset, along with Tekram slot-1 converter. I know the motherboard settings for core voltage are 2.0V 2.1 2.2... and so on, but celeron 566 runs at 1.5V. If I change the setting in converter to 1.5V, what should be the motherboard voltage setting should be? should be higher than 1.5V or lower than 1.5V.
Well, only option I have is higher than 1.5V since that is the minimum voltage supplied, from motherboard. Will it be ok? to have board supplying 2.0V and converter setting at 1.5V?
You should be OK if the slocket has an on board voltage regulator. These look like black square chips, about 0.5cm*0.5cm and usually have three electrical connections to them. They are sometimes mounted on small heatsinks or just to a piece of metal. Do not worry about taking that chip to 1.6V if you want to overclock - the P3coppermine core on which the celeron2 is based runs at 1.6-1.65V and the GHz versions run at 1.85 (I believe).
If you are uncertain, email Tekram and they should reply fairly quickly!
EDIT: set the mobo to 2.0V, or 'auto' if there's the option, then set the slocket to 1.5V
