Which CPU?
I have decided on a Gigabyte GA-6VX7-4X for my new system...but am now wondering about a CPU. Any opinions would be appreciated. I could buy a Celeron and o/c it, or go with a P3..

I'd recommend you maybe look at Duron. They are cheaper than Celery's and if they OC well, you may be able to get BETTER performance.

Based on the board you have chosen I too would lean toward the Celly II chips as I love mine and they are performing fantastically

Am I right in assuming that the 533 and 566 are Celeron 2's?
-
All of the 566's are and in the 533's you need to make sure you get a 533A as the A means that it is the .18 micron die process.

Id go for either the 533A and the 566, they are the underdogs of overclocking.

Thanks..I will be getting a Celeron 2. Any opinions on buying OEM vs retail?
-
I'd get the oem, since all that your getting extra with the retail is the crapass heatsink and fan. Plus a box and warannty thats pretty useless....
So go for oem!!!!! Save yourself some dough!!!

OEM it is
Thanks everyone for the advice.

Geez, that was a quick decision....

Get the 566 and you will have to pinch yourself to make sure your not dreaming.

i love my celeron2 566@825...but i already want more...and need more cooling...

Guess my advice worked. Here ISD, check out what you can achieve with your 533A or 566 Celeron, by going here: www.overclockers.com ... BTW, good choice.
