    Variable:

I'd say that the real variable here is your motherboard. Get a 'notherboard that will go higher than 83fsb, or at least set it to 6x. 2x=6x w/ a K6. That would at least put you at 500.

    For example: My K6-2 500 at 600 slightly out-performs Rapael's K6-3 shown above.

    Variable,
I'm running two systems with the K6-2 CPU
    First is an EPOX G2 mobo with a 500 chip o/c to 5x120 with 2x128 pc133 ram
    Second is a 450 chip on a PCChips M570 o/c (lol) to 6x83 (500) with 4x16MB EDO sims.
The difference between the two systems is ermmm.... zero!
Benchmarks will score far better on the first system but the differences you see are nothing. Only bandwidth hungry apps (like photoshop) will be slower but not much to justify the expense of a new m/b. As far as games are conserned.. well I have a ATI rage PRO 8MB and an ATI rage 128 PRO 32MB. Whichever system has the later card better in games, so if you are a gamer spend you money on a good card that will last to your next upgrade as well. Something sensible (not a GFORCE) like a matrox g400, just DON'T buy ATI.

Comparing different systems with sandra is not fruitful (mildly put).
I have sandra reporting my K6-2450 (@500) (on a 83 Bus) faster than the k6-2 500 (@500) on a 100Mhz bus. Considering the former setup had a multiplier of 6 and the later of 5, this is enought to make the former slower (longer wait cycles).

You can use sandra to check between different overclocking set ups of the same system.

Well, I my webspace provider doesn't allow IMG tags, so I'll just say it's very very very very slow.

every thing between 300MHz and 600MHz and every bus speed between 66 and 124 take your pick right now running a 450 at 550 stable as all get out with water cooling
