Which Modem Should I Get?
I currently have a Wiscom 56K modem. I updated the firmware to V.90 and since then I can only connect at 28K. I do connect the on the first attempt now; previously it took multiples attempts although I was eventually able to connect at 38 - 49K.
I'm finding it impossible to get any support to fix this problem and I'm considering just chucking this modem.
Can someone suggest what I should get?

Before buying a new modem, have your line check. The multiple attempt to connect suggest possible noise problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, Isos. I've had my phone cpmpany come out about about 3 times already. Maybe I need to invite them back out.
Does anyone know if there is there away to check the line quality yourself?

You're going to love this. I finally got a hold of Wisecom. It seems that the firmware I downloaded from their website which said "new!" wasn't new after all. They sent me the really new firmware and the modem is working fine now. Geeez!
