    Question

    FIC VA503+
    128mb pc100 cas2
    AMD k6-2 450 OC to 506
    5x 100
    default voltage 2.4
new voltage 2.6 (only way it runs stable)
stock heat sink, with a power supply fan
    replacing the stock one.
Runs stable in Win98. I have not found a program that locks up....even Unreal runs faster(that suprised me!).
I have no temp readings....but I know it's too hot, there is a blister on my finger where I touched the heat sink to check the temp......guess I need a bigger heat sink, but the stock one is GLUED on....came out of the sealed AMD box that way. I tried to pry it, but wimped out...it's really stuck!! I've booted at 550 (5.5x 100, 2.7v)Win98 ra fine....but it's WAAAAAAAAY too hot, so I dropped to 506.

ANY info on removing the stuck heat sink would be a treat!! I think it's epoxy, not the pad.

    Also, I have an Intel 133mmx @ 233 (3.5x 66)
    AMI PC100 mobo
    64mb 66Mhz sdram
stock heat sink, no fan....runs Win98 & every program I have stable.

If it blistered you finger then it will kill your chip soon and it could also burn out the on die 64kb cache...back it up a bit till you get a better heatsink unless you can afford another chip . Try using a sharp razor blade and worh it in between the heatsink and slug at each corner as you would to get the cap off. Here is a link that may explain a bit btter. Good luck

Couldn't get the heatsink+fan combo I wanted, but I got a nice one from JMC Products, called k701.
Unfortunately, my 550 can go no further than 700. At 750 and 800, it kept restarting my computer in quake3.

This is on ABIT BE6 II, Slot1 Alpha, a 58W TEC and 2,3V core. I expect to hit 750 or 800 when the watercooler is up and running. For more info, you could visit my site at www.duckmanswildpage.com

Hey WTF, if your not into games, and maily use your computer for RC5, you could disable the L2 Cache, and go to 667. I got the same processor, and I can get to 667 with no L2 Cache

I had my K62-500 running @ 550 with the Epox MVP3C-M, 5*100MHz, with large heatsink/fan and case off, but unfortunately every time I opened Word 2000, or a couple of other progs. it would freeze or restart, I had the voltage set @ 2.2, then 2.3V but the puter wouldn't hold up!
So I have it back down to 500...I can't seem to even OC my K62 500!!

Duckman: I was thinking about getting a Abit BF6 with a Celeron 466, and OC'ing it, but is the BE6-2 a better OC'er for the Celeron 466??!!?? It seems like urs is running pretty well.
    reply soon

    Lets see:

    System 1:
    ABIT BF6
    PII-400
    FSB 136
    CPU Speed 544
    256 Meg generic PC100
Runs a bit on the warm side (33C to 47C) with Coolerstar PII 2 fan/heat sink setup. Tried a 3 fan Peltier Cooler (Coolerstar), but my power supply couldn't keep up with the load.

    System 2:
    Soyo 6BA+IV
    PIII-600e
    FSB 137
    CPU Speed 822
    256 Meg PC133 CAS 3
Runs cool (28C to 33C)with an Artic Cooler SECC2 (Golden Orb)

Next week I'll be putting System 3 together:
    Soyo 6VCA
    PIII-700e
    256 MEG Mushkin PC133 CAS2
    Vantec P3D 5030 Cooler

Don't know what I'll get out of it, but I'll give it a try
