    Angry spontanious rebooting

when i'm on tha internet and i have my tv tunercard going i get swpontanious rebooting on this comp. It'll just reboot w/out warning i have the pci bus @ 30 mhz and My comp has no isa devices so i deactivated the isa bus. could this be doing it. If i go into win 2k it won't do it but if i go into 98 it'll do it sometimes i have an LT win modem. I thought it was drivers cuz when i went back to older drivers i got off the inet it workd like a charm but it's started again but only when i'm connecting or oin the net and using another pci device (other than the sound).it's on pci slot 2 of 4 and w/ an irq of 5 (i forced this). it's the first device on tha bus. What's going on here?

Sounds like a lack of voltage, try upping it 0.1 volts and see if that solves the problem. What chip and mobo anyway?

What are you cooling it with "dry ice" man that chip must be hot!!!.....I reckon your reboots are nothing to do with a lack of voltage as you seem to have that well covered so it could be your ram. Have you tried to slow down the memory timing and set your ram to cas 3.Running at 130fsb is tough on ram is yours PC133 ?. If it is it is possible that you are overclocking you HDD and pci bus which could also account for your problems.

I'm coolong w/ an alpha heatsink w/ a 4" fan blowing on it i think that the cooling of the processor is'nt bad and no i'm not ocing the busses theyre at 60 mhz (agp) 30 anbd so on / i'm not ocing my ram it's on bypass clocking so that i can get up to 130 fsb speed. I also use CPU COOL to help me ceep the processor cool.

    1. Drop the speed of the chip a bit.

    2. Lost about half a volt!!

Try running the system at standard speed/volts and see if the problem ocurrs. Personally, I think you are using WAY too many volts there, and despite the system running fine for months, it won't last that long with a voltage like that. It could the the first signs of a cpu losing the plot.

    Wow!! richamies is right here.
Way to fast for a k6/2 350, drop it down and drop that voltage to around 2.4 to 2.7. At the voltage your using she will fry if its not allready partially there now..
PS: I have not seen anyone with a 350 that overclocked????

what's the point of having a 130FSB if everything else (mem especially) is not running there?
take it down a bit so that your mem goes on a higher bus and you'll see a performance increase even with lower CPU speed. 3.3V are TOO many for even p55C chips! take it down a bit. As for the reboots it is 100% heat related! I used to get it a lot even with my temp bellow 40C on an AMD chip! the heat production of the CPU was way to much to take it and it rebooted whenever loaded (seti etc).

    Talking

the processor is agbout a year in a half old i'm going to get a k6-3-400 in not oo long the processor is reaching the end of the lifespan that i expected. I know it's not heat related or tha cpu though because the thing only does it if i'm using the tv tuner card. and the mem is bypassing a 120 not 100mhz i know it's a lot of voltage and things so i'm just gonna keep it like it is until i get a new toy to jolt w/ electricity NOTE:it only started when i got the tv tuner card working again

    Cool

I read on a site a while ago that K62-350 sometimes don't even go higher than 380.If you are lucky you should be able to get 450 out of it at 2.4V.
Maybe it is already damaged and it won't ever be stable again.

actually this is not a "new" problem.
a friend of mine just got an LT winmodem and
    started getting these strange reboots!!
We took it out and stuck his 33.6 back in and no more reboots. Try taking the modem out and use the tuner

this is a little unrelated, but if windows ids your modem as an LT winmodem, your drivers are way out of date for it....

    Try this:

Take out other PCI devices except your tuner card. Do everything else as you do it normally. If it does not reboot, its a power problem. If it reboots then...

Put back what you took out, and take out the tuner card. The do as you do it normally. If it reboots, the problem is niether your tuner or other PCI devices.
