    Question Best Socket 7 upgrade?

I'm currently running an AMD K6-2 400 at the listed speed. IF their prices were comparable (say within 5 bucks) which cpu would provide the most "bang for the buck": a K6-2 500 or a K6-3 400? I have 128 megs of PC100 on the mobo and a Globalwin FEP so memory or heat shouldn't be an issue.

The K6 III is a superior chip and isnt as prone to bottlenecks as the k6 II, also the K6 III is about 33.7% faster (I think thats AMD book speed). I would personally get the 450mhz III, I just bought one and now its running stable at 575mhz (only 43'C)

The K6-3 450 is an excellent CPU, and will pretty much max out your S7 mobo, although it is stubborn to overclock. I can only get 475 out of mine(2.4v). It is noticeably faster than the K6-2 due to on-chip cache,
but it's the end of the road for the K6-3 line.
