Wow- It's all white!
I woke up this morning and there was snow on the ground! This may not sound like much since many of you get it several times a year but the last time it snowed in Charleston was 1988 after hurricane Hugo. Wow!

Strange winter.
Today is the first time this winter with a good rain. (so.Calif.) Only had a few small sprinkles till now. Very unusuall, they have predicted a real dry winter and possible drought conditions next couple years.
El-nino, la-nina, global warming? wierd.

I've lived in SoCal since October(moved from Des Moines, Ia.) and I just have one question. Does ANYONE know how to drive in the rain out here? I mean, everytime it rains there's at LEAST one freeway shut down by accidents! Sheesh! They need to do something about their drainage out here too. It sprinkles a little and the streets flood!

Here in NJ we have about 4-6 inches right now.
I was planning to skip mid term exams today and make it up on makeup day, cuz I didnt read some of the stuff in english we were supposta (like 40 2 column textbook pages worth) which the whole test was based on. If I did skip, then That absense would have kept me off the final's exemption list...but I had my decision made. I woke up at noon, and looked outside. Then I ran to the answering machine, and the lady called for a snow day.
and
oh yeah
that was sweet...

Up where I am in central Canada, my city's nicknamed "Winterpeg" as Winnipeg gets bombed with tonne after tonne of snow.
This year, we've been getting more of the chilly dry winter than anything else.
It's about -28*celcius, factor in the 1900's windchill, and it's about -45*c.
But there's no better feelin' than driving in the winter time. Its really fun skidding your car around the block. Or burning-rubber past those little lightweight honda civics. I've got over 150lbs of weight in the trunk to help me thru traffic.
Vroom! Vroom!
Not that I have road rage or drive like a maniac, or anything like that.

JeffD78 - I cut my first snow tires when I was 16 and as you have found, the answer is NO ONE in SoCal can drive in the rain!
I feel like I take my life in my hands heading out on the freeway in this rainy weather. The 210 this a.m. shut down due to multiple semi's, an armored truck (hmmm...) and auto accident.. another on the 405... sheesh!
I do miss the snow though.

Being from Miami I could say driving in the rain is no Prob. No mater what the weather was you get on 95 or 826 and it took you an hour to go anywere. There are always afternoon thunderstorms.
Driving in the snow is GREAT no one ever goes out! Ice is another story, it's even more fun! Then theres "BLACK ICE" now that has thrown me in other lanes. Thank god for gravel pits and fresh wet blacktop parking lots or I would not know how to drive.
BTW the snow today never stuck!

I love snow!! I remember getting drunk and making a Snow Woman with my mates, and yes she had all the right parts .
Sledging is the greatest thing about snow - I used to live near a big Chase/Forest, and some of the hills were truly wonderful. will never ever grow out of sledging!!
