I have used a VA-503+ motherboard with a G200. At the beginning, IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. It took Matrox more than 7 months to fix the problem with VIA based board.

The graphics/video editing programs included with your Matrox Marvel works better with an Intel based CPU. Unless, you've found a version that is optimized for 3DNOW.

Your Celeron alternative is a cost effective option, however, if you can setup your system using P2, you'll enjoy it more.
