k6-2 400 oc'ed and running!!
My first attempt at overclocking is going good so far. I got my Globalwin fan and heatsink in today and oc'ed it to 450 at 2.4v. Running stable so far with average temp of 80 degrees F. Now what? Are there any programs out there to really put this thing through the paces just to see how stable it is? Also would anyone recommend trying to go higher later on? I've read in recent threads about "burning" it in for so long and then lowering the voltage. What is that and is it necessary? Any answers would be great. Also thanks to Ed_s for the help with the voltage settings.

A good program to test stability is a client from Distributed.net...
It forces your CPU to work with a 100% load and also lets you win up to $1000 and helps sysopt in a contest.

some will and some wont, but i would try for 500mhz 5 x 100. see if it boots at that, if it does try running a game, the most intensive graphics one you've got for a couple of hours and see if it takes it. I'd recommend installing RAIN or WATERFALL plus a large Heatsink + fan with some thermal paste between. ive got a 400 running at 523 OK.

Congrats! Glad it's working. Run it through it's paces with your most intensive apps and games.
As to going higher, it's always possible, just gets less likely the higher you try. Depends on the individual CPU, it's luck of the draw.
I'd leave it alone for awhile, then try small steps. Backup your system, or at least the registry, before going any higher. As I said in the other thread, mine posted at 500 but crashed loading Windows. Thought it had trashed Windows, but was finally able to get going after several restarts & reloading video drivers from safe mode.
