IDT Chips, Any Good? Can they be OC'ed
Are the IDT Winchips very good CPUs, at least better then Cyrix? Can they be overclocked? I know now they have a WinChip2 out with 3D NOW
support, is it much better then their older C6 model. These chips can be found dirt cheap (I found a 200Mhz C6 for $28 and a Winchip2 for about 40), and I was wondering if there is any merit at all to buying one, or is the old saying true, you get what you pay for?
Thanks,

Yeah, they can be overclocked... I am currently running the 240MHz at 266... just upped the bus speed from 60 to 66MHz and it has worked fine for over 2 months

The WinChip can be overclocked and is not a bad little chip. I have a WinChip2 200 and a WinChip 225. I have overclocked the 200 to 225 without any problems.
I overclocked the WinChip 225 to 250 (83*3) and got some different results. The chip was stable in Quake II at all resolutions. I played for a couple of hours at this speed. When I tried to play Grand Theft Auto I could dump the system in under 3 minutes. Kind of strange considering that GTA should be a lot less taxing on the processor. I had a cheap little $5 fan on the CPU so if you had a decent fan the chip might be fully stable.
