overclocking compaq presario
I have a presario 5630 pII 400, and I can't find info on overclocking these moboards anywhere - I've tried compaq's website, and found nothing. Since I bought this computer before Aug '98, I know the clock multiplier isn't locked, but I can't find any documentation that's specific enough about the motherboard.

You probably won't find any info on this board over and above what compaq gives you. Generally systems such as compaq, dell, and ibm don't put the right settings on their boards so the end user can overclock their system. They are more concerned with making the system run stable at the specified speed than with overclocking the system.

Compaq does provide detailed service manuals online. Goto compaq.com.athome.suppport From there should be able to find the document links. I have a Presario 5190 and found the detailed mother board layout. Mine supports upto 550MHz with id'd jumper settings and also gives/shows voltage jumper settings.
I haven't tried o/c'g my unit yet, but will try. Good luck & let us know.
