undo clock multplier PII 300 ??

cpu is locked at 4.5, V=2.8. I can increase fsb to 83, MB doesn't have a higher setting. Is cpu double locked at higher bus speeds (>95)? What effect would taping pin B21 have and how does one tape this pin correctly? I really wan't to undo clock multiplier lock if possible.

Do you have a 100Mhz board?

The only thing that B21 does is tell the motherboard to operate at 66Mhz or 100Mhz (when taped). If you can adjust the bus speed in your bios, tape is not needed.

I just went through the taping process for a voltage change by taping 4 pins.

You can use regular Scotch tape. Cut a very thin strip the same width of the pin. Do not touch the tape in the area that is going to contact the processor pin. Make sure that it only covers that pin and not the pins around it. Cut the extra length of tape at the bottom edge of the circuit board. I make sure that the tape extends onto the beveled part of the circuit board and cut it there. Make sure that the tape is on good by pressing it in place with your finger nail.

Count the pins carefully to find B21, and count it again after it's taped. It could be an expensive mistake.

If we could figure out how to break the locked clock, there would be a lot of happy people. Me included.
