Lock Ups - HELP!!
In the last few days my PC has started locking up, I'm not sure if this is to do with overclocking or not.
It usually happens when using Netscape
The mouse pointer still moves and will
change its shape when moving over text or the corner of a window or something.
My Celery 300a has been happy at 450 for a few weeks now. The only thing that has changed is that I have recently bought a PCI slot twin fan, so I could put the case back together and keep the temp down.
And I have installed a few demos of various utils and such.
I suppose the question is:
If I can move the pointer around, the CPU must be doing something right?
So it hasn't stopped working because of heat?
Is this true??

Sounds correct. When my systems freeze, nothing works except the AC switch on the power supply.
Run a virus check if you haven't.
Try removing one by one the various demos & utilities, and anything else you can think of that has changed.
It's best to conjure up a test that you can use between each step to help ID the culprit.

Sounds like you may still have a heat problem? Open the case back up and see if your hang ups go away? If they do you still have to much heat in the case. A lot of times you can still move the mouse but the cpu won't do any thing else. As it has froze the program you were in. Hope that helps. Jim

I had the same problem with Netscape, but it was because of a utility called GetRight, which was monitoring links in Netscape. The reason that happened is because I installed Netscape after having GetRight there already.
That completely screwed Netscape up.
So my suggestion is think of software before your hardware.
