    new to overclocking

I am going to attempt to O/C my cyrix 166+ but have a question regarding the jumpers. In my m/board manual it gives the options for the jumpers as 50, 55, 60, 66, or 75. How do I O/C this to 187 or 200 or whatever?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to e-mail me as well.

    Welcome to overclocking.

Your 166+ is running at 66MHz with a multiplier of 2.5. First raise the bus speed to 75, giving you 2.5x75=187.5.

If that works, look for jumpers to change the multiplier and core voltage. A multiplier of 3 will give you 225.

If that works, move on up, one change at a time. At some point it will fail to boot - usually a black screen and no action. Shut it down, start over with the same multiplier and the next higher voltage. Don't go more than 10% over the default voltage until you have beefed up your cooling.

As you can see, this is fun but it takes great patience.

For more info, check Guides on the Home page of SysOpt. There is a setp-by-step guide for overclocking.

    Good Luck.
