The PII 300 is not the right proc. to overclock because it gets too hot when overclocked.
But you should try a bios-update or another MB.

I just updated my BIOS and it still won't let me get over 300... if I try to go higher it just cuts it down to 133Mhz. Is there a block on this processor?

CANT OC A P2 300!?!? -HELP
I have a P2 300 CPU and a TYAN 1692S Motherboard and I can't OC at all! When I set my jumpers to 333Mhz. it boots up saying 133Mhz. Processor detected... Why won't it let me go higher?
-
Is your 300 a klamath(.35 micron) or the .25? The klamaths are insane to overclock, because they run at 2.8v. The deshutes core runs at 2.0 making it alot cooler at higher speeds. Make sure you find out what core your 300 is, if its the .25, then it should run @ 450.
-
How can I tell which one it is? I have absolutely no idea...
-
spdsk8r: Double check your using the
bus speed to adjust the CPU and not
the multiplier.
To find out if you are running a .25 micron processor, check the codes written on top
of the CPU... if you see a SL2YK OR SL2W8 then you are running a .25, anything else
and its probably a .35.
I'm running my P2-300 (SL2YK) at 464Mhz
at 2.0volts. These are very, very overclockable processors. The .35 micron
ones run hotter so they are not as overclockable. With some good cooling you
could possibly reach 373.
Yell out if your still confused.
