HELP ME OVERCLOCK MY K6-2 400 ASUS P5-A

CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME A SAFE WAY TO OVERCLOCK MY AMD K6-2 400 AN A ASUS P5-A? IS THIS A GOOD CHIP AND BOARD TO OVERCLOCK?

Typically you inch your way up. Assuming your running 4 * 100 at stock voltage try 4 * the next speed, running all those tests recommended and any games you may have. Try the next higher, and the one after that. The board you have was reviewed at Anands and was clean up to 120MHz, but your processor may give up the ghost before that. Lets say it starts getting flaky at 110MHz, then increase the voltage a wee bit, but stay with voltages specified by AMD, whatever they are. Thermal grease under the heat sink is a good thing, a couple of bucks at Radio Shlock, err Shack.

OK, so lets say your chip says enough at 4 * 110. It might do 4.5 * 100? Whether that's better remains to be seen.

And just to play around try 5 * 95, you just might make it.

If 120 fails and your board allows ( I believe it does) you may try running the PCI bus at 1/4 the FSB speed. This would put your PCI bus back to 30MHz, which is mouch more reasonable than 40MHz. Being able to run the FSB at 120MHz should more than make up for it.
