Why Celeron?
It really annoys me that people are bragging that "they can run their cpu's at 450mhz + with their Celerons"
Why don't these cheap bastards go out and buy a decent cpu like a PENTIUM 2?
I've got a pentium 2, 333mmx which whips the **** out of all those celerons. If u guys are out to strive and get the best, why do u buy cheap ***, rip off versions of a pentium 2, that arn't as good?

Rip off? So, INTEL is ripping everyone off buy making a CPU that runs almost as fast as P2 yet costs 1/2 the price? Seems to me that you got ripped by buying a P2 and are mad at the rest of us who know computers and how they work. Boo hoo!!

Your 333 beats the celeron? PFFAHAHAHHA! NOT QUITE bud. A celeron@450mhz would beat your p2-333 at any benchmark. Are you that dumb?
-
well all of you are right .
the P2 kicks *** in 3D and stuff but man are they alot of money .
celery will give you speed but its like a Porche with no seats ( weak 3D )
I have an AMD K6-2 366 @ 380 and i'm happy with the 3D NOW! preformance which works well with direct x 6 and it only cost $150 US .

Isos hit the nail on the head, OC'ing is "fun", i.e. the kid in all of us that needs to get away with something forbidden. Fortunately nobody gets hurt.
What is not mentioned all to often is this:
Months ago people paid close to $200 to get a 300A that did 450.
Today you pay under $200 for a 400A that will also do 450. And has a better chance of doing 500, although still not that good.
But Isos will point out the later is not as much fun. That's probably true.
I may yet have the last laugh, in a few months the PII prices will drop and I too will be doing 450, maybe 500MHz, for under $200.
Interesting point, 1 website pointed out that the PII has separate cache chips and the celeron has it internally. Celerons transistor count is much higher than the PII's. Wouldn't it be ironic if Intel spends more to make the Celeron than the PII? Just a thought.
Just don't forget to thank AMD for your great prices.
