    P II 400 OC

I HAVE A 440 bx Motherboard A-Trend , i am not sure if anyone has heard of this brand, anyway can somebody please tell me the exact way to OC a P II 400 CPU. I have tried running it at 112 at 4 and it seems to run fine at 448. Do I have to stick to a multiplier of 4 or is it possible to go to 4.5 or maybe 5. The MB has a dip switch to make these changes. I also tried going to 124 at 4 from the bios, but the PC does not boot. Also some tips on temperature? I have the MB Lite which tell me the CPU,s temperature which runs at about 98 degrees, is this OK. any help will be highly appreciated. What other changes do i have to make to the MB or Bios to successfully OC Thanx

I hope thats not 98 celcius. Normal for PII
is 40 degrees celcius. If it is you have a serious cooling issue, and are probably damaging you chip. It should be around 40 cel or 104 farenheit. Your best off with the highest clock speed you can run, and a lower multiplier. So start with the clock first, then mess with the multiplier dip switch.

P2 400 cpu made after the middle of August 1998 are strictly 4.0 multiplier. If you have an earlier CPU, it is possible to use multiplier other than 4.0

I have an earlier P2 400 on an ABIT that is set at 4.5X100. I can run 4X112 but I'd raaaather not overclock the PCI&AGP devices in my system. CPU is averaging 90F or 33C.
