    Overclocking a 486 DX4-100?

Is it possible to o/c a dx4-100, or is it already o/c'ed. I have an older 'puter I wanted to mess around with before I try to o/c my P400. Thanks for any feedback.

Sure you can. My DX4-100 was my 2nd overclock I ever did. With my DX2-66 being the first.

You can't change the CPU multiplier like you can with Pentiums and above, but you can up your bus speed. The DX4 triples the bus speed. Currently the bus is at 33mhz so the CPU runs at 100 (yeah ok, 99 really). Most motherboard of that type will allow you to change the system bus speed to 40mhz. Do this and then your CPU will become a DX4-120. Almost as if like magic.

BTW, my old DX4-120 is still running with no problems after 3 or 4+ years now. And, my even older DX2-66 overclocked to 80mhz is also still running after 5-6+ years.
