Are p3's overclockable?
I've heard stories both ways...it checks for proper bus speeds...no it doesn't. And, when are things moving up to 133MHz FSB?
-
Everything I've heard points to NO clock lock. I guess someone's gotta get one and find out. Not me, at least not yet .
-
Uhh, thats bus lock roy, if there was no clock-lock, i'd buy that 860$ piece of PCB in a minute!
-
Bus lock - clock lock. From the CPU's viewpoint it's the latter. The mobo delivers multiple bus speeds and the CPU takes them. That's why a multiplier locked chip can be over clocked.
Thanks for chasing me around and keeping me on my toes. Oh, P-III 500s are going for $802 today.

Bus lock would lock the bus and multiplier. Lock the bus at 100 mhz and the multiplier @ 5.0 to get a totally locked 500

I think we're both saying the same thing. The real question remains unanswered. Now if we can get 40 guys to chip in $20 ...
-
Yeah, heh, if you went around all the bbs's and asked everyone to ship you 5$ i bet you could buy one... Hey roy, we should have people click on 2 banners to help us get PIII's and do some tests for them.. Im gonna post that idea in anands...
-
Do it!
I'll take $400 for my P-II 450 if we get enough to make up the other $400 and I'll even pick up the shipping!
