    Problem with sound output

I get a crackling coming from my speakers when playing a song or movie & and other media.
the length of the crackling is in sync with the hard drive l.e.d when it fashes on and off ,so does the crackling sound.

    any solutions?

I'd check with some new PCI card (I assume yours is older ISA soundcard).
Second, I'd check the memory, maybe trying PC133 instead of PC100.
Is there any conficts visible in Device Manager ?
Try to check/uncheck "DMA" usage for your HD/CD-ROM, via Device Manager.

    Best Regards ...

Try an updated driver for the soundcard. Have a look at WinDrivers .
