PC locking up
I have an Asus A7VE mobo and a AMD 1.2 Ghz Athlon. All hardware is brand new with the latest firmware. Why is my mobo consistently locking up? And when it reboots it goes into the bios. The cpu defaults are reset because it says that the cpu defaults were restored because the computer hung due to improper settings. Even with the default settings the pc hangs. Does anyone know of a tweak or could it be the Micron memory 128 mb pc133?
Any suggestions are welcome...

Can bad memory lock the computer?

Is your mobo set to Jumperfree mode so that it can detect the CPU itself? There are jumper settings to enable Jumperfree but I think it defaults to that anyway. probably worth checking though (and all the other jumper settings while you're at it). Make sure the machine is switched off though

Could bad memory make a PC lock up?

How's your cooling solution? It's possible the system is overheating if you don't a good HS/F or some decent case cooling. Check your temp. on POST and see it that's ok.
I guess you could also check to see if all your devices are on separate IRQ's. If two devices are conflicting you can move them around in their PCI slots or trying some assigning in the BIOS.
