my sound keeps making these crackling noises....
every time i listen to an mp3, a cd or watch a video with sound, i keep getting these crackling noises in the back ground. I got on board sound on an atrend v931-CX0. and also, if i set my video to full hardware acceleration, everything freezes when i try to open an mpg. It doesnt even begin to play it...media player opens and then it freezes. i got a tnt2 video card with 128 mb of kingston ram. in my my bios i have a AGP 2X option and i disabled it. still not working! think i should try different memory. i just got this pc and installed this memory in it. the only way a can watch video is to place the hardware acceleration mark in the second level...anything past that and it starts acting up

I think your right, I would put another stick of ram in too, at least another 128.

I finally fixed that same problem with my old unit. I have to admit that I don't know exactly what fixed it, but here's most of what i did: First I tried uninstalling all of the drivers for the video, and my sound (it was pci) then I moved the video card (also psi) to a different slot. That worked for about three boots, then went back. I finally got it to work by asigning the irq's for the video and sound myself, but then had problems with the modem. Well got tired of it all and changed from Sound Blaster 16pci to Montego II Quadzilla and had not another problem. Not the answer, but might help.
