    NT installation

    i have a asus CUV4-D dual processor mother with one cpu installed(the other one not use-by putting a CPU terminator) and i boot up pc using win98 boot disk and fdisk my hardisk into few 2G FAT 16 partition, afterthat format it and install windows NT 4.0, after setup finish copy file to c: and reboot,after reboot, running for a while when come to blue screen(a while), it crash and the error msg is inaccessible_boot_device(0x7B) which suppose coz by system initialization failure,


    can any one help me , thanks.
    by the way, the pc is in clean situation when i install the NT..

    Have you tried booting to the NT CD and running setup from there? You will probably have to drop the partition(s) first using your 98 disk.

    i boot using win98 boot disk and fdisk, format (everything like normal when we make partition), afterthat that i use the win98 boot disk to boot into dos(coz i need to activate cdrom), then go to the nt cd (i386 and run winnt.exe with command winnt /b;

    but after copy file to c: ,reboot and go to blue screen for a while it crash

    Have you tried it the other way? After you're done, you can always copy the I386 directory onto the hard drive. You will probably have to change your settings in CMOS to boot to the CD-rom first. I'm not fimiliar with that motherboard. But if it's pretty new, it should see it one the secondary IDE or on the primary as a slave, depending on how you have it connected.

    You need to boot with NT4 boot disk.

    is there any possible it cause by dual processor motherboard?(i use it as single processor system

    i use the win NT boot disk to boot up, but come to one stage after it has detect the scsi and other thing, i come out with a msg said windows has determined that one or more of my hard disk has more that 1024 cylinder,

    and said have to configure it to sector translation mode..what is thaat??

    after that it said setup is unable to locate hard drive partition prepare by msdos potion of the setup..

    NT will NOT install to a partition created with Win98. It must be created by DOS or NT.

    If you are going to use NT only, boot from the install CD/Floppy and it will take you through the motions of creating and formatting your partitions.
