    Boot disk thing

I've been working on my brother's computer. His old case had a phat dent in it from when it was my other brother's and he dropped it. Anyways, the network card in it would always pop out because of it, and it got to be a hassle, so I told him I would try and put his stuff in this extra case I have. I put everything in it. Everything seems to be hooked up right. I start the computer up and it starts its usual jazz but says "Wait..." for a few minutes on the first screen that comes up. Then it continues with its stuff, then it says its searching for a boot record from floppy... not found, searching for boot record from scsi... not found, then it says to insert a boot disk and hit any key. I made a boot disk and put it in, hit a key, it searches the drive and says it again. boot record not found, please insert boot disk and hit any key. I keep doing this until it gets old. I restart it a few times and go through the same hassle. This brings us to me typing these very words. Why is it telling me to put in a boot disk, why does it need one, why won't the one I have work, etc. If you got any ideas, please let me know. Thanks.

Make sure that the hard disk ide lead is the right way round and that it is in at both ends and try booting again.

There are several other things to try but try that first and respond..

I flipped the ide cable around and now it says "ok" after searching for boot record, but then says "I/O error" and "replace the disk and hit any key". what does that mean?

    Hey There
Did you try going in to CMOS and do a search on hard drive?

If so what does it see it as ?
    Primary or secondary

Ok I used a newer disk and got it to work.

    (edit)

Forget everything I said earlier. I had yet another cable backwards. Now I get it to get to a dos prompt for the A drive, but I don't know what to do after that. I'm stuck because I'm not a dos guy.

    (edit number 2)

Forget the above. I got to the prompt and did sys C: and loaded diagnostics. Then restarted and got windows running, but its asking for drivers that are on cd, but cd rom isn't showing on the computer. know how to get it on the computer?
